Members of the Skaneateles Fire Department
If you are a member of one side of the organization, generally you are also considered a member of the other side as well. This list also includes Honorary members as well as Life members.
Honorary members are individuals who have given some conspicuous service to the Department or the Corporation, and have been given this designation by election. They have no other privileges.
Life members are individuals who have given a minimum of 25 years of service to the Department and have been elected by the general membership to this designation.
Life members are still considered full members of both the Fire Department as well as the Corporation, but are not required to attend mandatory trainings or meetings, depending on when they were given this designation; Life members elected to this designation after 1996 must attend a minimum of 6 corporate monthly meetings to be able to vote on corporate issues.
In order to be considered active firefighters, Life members must meet minimum physical fitness standards and attend required trainings. However, both active and inactive Life members may vote for Department and Corporate officers and bylaws.
